About Us

Welcome to the African Institute for Parliamentary Studies and Public Policy (AIPSAPP)—a leading centre dedicated to strengthening legislative systems, promoting good governance, and deepening democratic practices across Africa.

Our mission is to support newly established democratic parliaments in building effective, accountable, and transparent institutions that enhance the legislative process and deliver meaningful impact to citizens. We are equally committed to fostering collaboration among African parliaments, governments, civil society organisations, and key stakeholders—including citizens, interest groups, and advocacy coalitions.

At the heart of our work is the belief that strong, inclusive democratic systems require not only institutional reforms but also informed and empowered citizens. We aim to reach and positively influence over 5,000 individuals and organisations in the next four years through tailored training, capacity building, knowledge exchange, and policy advisory services.

Our Perspective

In many African countries, democratic systems remain fragile, and citizens are yet to fully appreciate the pivotal role that interest and pressure groups play in shaping inclusive and accountable governance. As a result, citizens often become overly reliant on political parties—who, while promising change, may perpetuate entrenched partisanship without transforming the structural foundations of governance.

AIPSAPP is committed to changing this narrative.

We work to identify, support, and strengthen legitimately established interest groups and civil society actors across the continent. Through training, advocacy, and strategic engagement, we help these groups understand how to influence policy from formulation to legislation and implementation—ensuring that public policy truly reflects the aspirations and needs of the people, not just the interests of political elites.

Together, we are building a new model of democratic governance in Africa—one rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and integrity.

Our Workshops

AIPSAPP brings a wealth of experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality learning programmes for clients across the public sector, both locally and internationally. We also cater to state-owned enterprises, private sector organisations, and non-governmental institutions.

To meet diverse training needs, we offer three flexible options for procuring our programmes. Each year, we deliver a calendar of open professional development workshops. These sessions consistently attract participants from across Africa and around the world, fostering cross-cultural learning and networking. Engaging with peers from different countries provides valuable perspectives and shared solutions to common challenges.

In addition to our open workshops held in Accra, we frequently organize customized training programmes for groups within the same organisation. These sessions can be scheduled at a time and location that suits you best—whether in Ghana, your country or region, or delivered virtually or as blended learning.

We also offer tailor-made programmes across a wide range of subject areas. Our comprehensive catalogue of professional development workshops serves as a foundation for these custom designs, ensuring consistency and quality throughout. Programmes are adapted to your specific needs, incorporating relevant case studies and aligning with your strategic objectives.
